About Us

Searl Vetter

I’ve lived an interesting life… and that ignites my interest in people and business. I started up and was CEO of a venture fund in Sofia, Bulgaria just after the wall had fallen (1991). Our aim was to support the development of private enterprise in the former communist country. In China, just after Tiananmen Square uprising happened, I was part of the team figuring out how to bring Procter & Gamble products into a country that could not afford even a bottle of shampoo.

Meanwhile in Hong Kong I ran the largest share brand of all P&G hair product in the world - the Queen of Shampoo! Later, in Serbia and Montenegro, I helped start the very first banks for the poor - so that they could get loans to start small businesses. At the same time I witnessed Slobodan Milošević on trial just a few miles from my home in The Hague.

In 2005 I began my quest to understand what makes us humans tick. I studied, among others, under Thich Nhat Hanh in his Plum Village monastery, walked Transformation Trails in the African jungle and discovered the Enneagram with Richard Riso and Russ Hudson. I have been motivated since to know that people can change, can become happier and more fulfilled, can be more effective in whatever their drive and interest is. We have it in ourselves and I can be a co-pilot providing some direction and encouragement!

I grew up in New England, attended Dartmouth College and then The Harvard Business School. I met my wonderful Dutch husband and we started a 30 year trip living around the world balancing two careers and children. I've lived in 5 countries and worked or traveled in over 40. My four grown children make me proud as well as remind me that I don’t always know what’s cool! Now in Colorado, each morning the glorious Rocky Mountains remind me that we are part of this glorious planet - lets love and thrive and give!

As long as I can remember I’ve been fascinated with the mysterious creatures known as human beings. Why do we do the things we do? Why do some people achieve their dreams, while others seem stuck? We are complex and infinitely fascinating, and being in the place of wonder, curiosity, and learning around human potential is one of the greatest joys in my life.

Complexity and intellectual challenge light me up, and the majority of my career prior to being an executive and leadership coach was in management consulting, with a brief stint as a venture capitalist. I’ve had the privilege of advising clients all over the world from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies on how to maximize business performance.

But something was missing. While I loved my work and clients, there was something that just wasn’t there. I realized that I wanted to put human beings at the center of my work, not strategy, solutions, and processes. Though I bring all of my experience into play as a coach, the difference is that a person is the focus. Talk about complexity! Now I spend my days doing what I love most – being of service to others and facilitating transformation so that my clients achieve extraordinary outcomes for themselves and their organizations.

I was born and raised in the New York City metro area and have a degree in psychology from Oberlin College and a MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia. Learning from Julio Olalla at the Newfield Network coach training program changed my life in so many ways. I’m a dyed in the wool lifelong learner and have done more programs that I can list (or you’d want to read), but another stand out experience was the Newfield Body and Movement advanced coaching and leadership program.

Colorado has been my home for many years and I continue to be in awe of the beauty of this incredible state. I love the great outdoors, exercise, meditation, reading, international travel, and last but definitely not least, being with my family. My husband and two sons keep me grounded and provide ample opportunities to grow, learn, and enjoy life.
